Jane Stevenson is the Principal Psychologist at CHANGES Psychological Services.
With over 23 years successful experience in the mental health and education fields in both city and regional areas in NSW. Jane is a registered Psychologist who graduated from the University of Sydney and completed post-grad at University of Western Sydney. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS).
Jane’s clinical approach is to offer a non-judgemental, supportive therapeutic environment in which you can collaboratively share and understand your experiences, develop effective coping strategies, build on existing strengths and improve your mental health and wellbeing.
As a mother of two adults and now a grandmother she particularly enjoys working with caregivers to increase their parenting confidence through enhancing understanding of child/adolescent development and explore ways to create that secure base for your children.
Jane has worked with clients from varying life backgrounds and histories including cultural and linguistically diverse, refugee and migrant families, LGBTQIA+, individuals with disability, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. Jane recognises that culturally appropriate counselling and client focused service is best practice to meet client needs.
Evidence based treatment is provided with Jane’s preferred therapy practices being Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Solution Focused, Compassion Focused ACT. With a baseline of investigating and directing your attention to your health, diet, energy, time management (an enhanced care of the self) – so you can reconnect with your body and slow your thoughts to the present moment.
With over a decade of corporate experience in Sydney Jane has the experience of working in and understanding the challenges and demands of employment with sole traders to large Australian companies and Government departments.
While working in clinical practice Jane has also spent the past 13 years supervising other psychologists and intern-psychologists working in both NSW public education and Catholic school systems. She is an Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Board Approved Supervisor. More information on supervision can be found here.
Jane is now working solely in private practice; seeing clients, and offering supervision for registered psychologists and coaching for business team building.
